actor call:

How to Get Appointments by Telephone

A one act show designed for fringe festivals.

This show will have a heavy devised element, with a strong ensemble. Based on an instructional cassette tape, the show centres around a man's attempt at saleperson success while he fails to connect to those immediately around him--- it is a comedy. I hope.

Auditions

Auditions will take place Monday February 17th. From 6-7pm we will call actors in for monologue (first come first served), and from 7-8pm run an ensemble audition.

You must be able to make both components of the audition to be considered for the project.

Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue, modern speech, comedic or dramatic as you choose, and bring a theatre resume (headshots not required).

Feel free to email me at josephine.czarnecki@gmail.com with any questions.

Rehearsal schedule

Rehearsals will mostly take place at the Broadway Playhouse in Santa Cruz, or at London Nelson Center downtown Santa Cruz. â€‹â€‹

These will be Mondays, 6-9pm from February 17th - April 21st.

April 21st, and Tuesday April 22nd will be dress rehearsals, with a Work-in-Progress performance on Thursday April 24th (location TBA).

We will follow up on Monday the 28th to tweak, and then if accepted, the Ashland Fringe Festival is May 2nd-4th in Ashland, Oregon

Performances

This show will have one local performance at on Thursday April 24th, time and location TBD.

The show has been accepted for the Ashland Fringe Festival in Ashland, Oregon. The dates for this festival are Friday May 2nd - Sunday May 4th.

The show is also under a lottery submission for the Elgin Fringe Festival in Elgin, IL (outside of Chicago). This would take place in September (dates unknown). If you are unable to make this performance, we will be able to recast you between shows, although you have first choice to join the show in Elgin. â€‹â€‹

Pay

This show will be a profit-share, meaning that all actors and crew will split any ticket profits (Santa Cruz, Elgin) or donations (Ashland) equally. There is a small donation budget for props and costumes which will not deduct from the ticketing profits. However, there is currently no sponsorship for any travel to the fringe locations. This means it will fall on the actors to transport and house at the further locations.

We understand if this is a burden that makes being part of the show infeasible, and respect the work that actors do. However this is the nature of this particular project, which we prefer to be upfront about.
